Last week I visited one of the great, historical perfomance-bastions of entertainment in New York City, the Apollo Theater on 125th Street in Harlem. Wednesday night is amateur night and there were acts of all kinds, a smorgasbord of aspiring kid stars, aged R&B wannabes and even a rapping accordion player who got booed off in usual "hooting" fashion! Teen dance troops took the stage by storm and one man with a fantastic spoken word performance rocked the house - truly.
I highly recommend this as a night out with friends during the week. It's a great part of New York with so much deep cultural history and it's really worth it to go and check it out.
Oh yeah, be sure to give a big round of applause for Ray Chew and the Crew - the great Apollo house band.
Sorry to hear that Jake-that is truly disappointing I am sure. Gos to show why there was such a big debate about software companies, Microsoft, shipping the systems with predefined homepages. Most people never change them to what they use and after your story I see why even more. Thanks for sharing ;)
